What is a Doula?

A doula is a trained support person who provides continuous care, emotional, physical, and informational; before, during, and after childbirth. Unlike medical providers, doulas don’t perform clinical tasks. Instead, we focus on your comfort, confidence, and empowerment throughout your birth journey.

Types of Doulas

Birth Doula – Supports you during pregnancy, labor, and delivery with comfort measures, advocacy, and information.

Postpartum Doula – Helps with recovery, newborn care, emotional adjustment, and household support after birth.

Full-Spectrum Doula – Offers care across the entire reproductive spectrum, including fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and loss support.

What a Doula Does

Provides Emotional Support – Encouragement, reassurance, and a calming presence.

Offers Physical Comfort – Massage, positioning, breathing techniques, and pain relief strategies.

Gives Evidence-Based Information – So you can make informed decisions that feel right for you.

Advocates for Your Birth Preferences – Helping you communicate your wishes to your care team.

Creates a Safe & Sacred Space – Whether in your home or a birth center, we hold the energy so you can focus on bringing your baby earthside.

What Makes Doula Support Unique

Doulas are continuously present throughout your labor, something that isn’t always possible with medical staff. Studies show that having a doula reduces the likelihood of interventions, shortens labor, and increases overall satisfaction with the birth experience.

My Approach at Divine Khemestry Holistics

As a doula and herbalist, I combine traditional birth support with holistic tools, herbal remedies, spiritual grounding practices, and emotional alignment. My role is to guide you through your pregnancy and birth with the utmost respect for your body, your choices, and your unique journey.

A doula’s role is simple but powerful: to remind you that you are capable, you are supported, and your birth matters.
