Ayurveda: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Healing
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems, originating in India over 5,000 years ago. The word itself means “knowledge of life.” Rooted in the belief that health comes from harmony between body, mind, and spirit, Ayurveda focuses on prevention, balance, and natural healing.
Rather than treating symptoms, Ayurveda looks at the whole person, your constitution, environment, habits, and spiritual alignment.
The Three Doshas
According to Ayurveda, each person is born with a unique constitution, or Prakriti, made up of three vital energies called Doshas:
Vata (Air & Space)
Governs movement, creativity, flexibility.
Balanced: Energetic, inspired, adaptable.
Imbalanced: Anxiety, insomnia, digestive issues, dryness.
Pitta (Fire & Water)
Governs digestion, metabolism, and transformation.
Balanced: Focused, courageous, strong digestion.
Imbalanced: Anger, inflammation, skin problems, ulcers.
Kapha (Earth & Water)
Governs structure, stability, and nourishment.
Balanced: Compassionate, grounded, strong immunity.
Imbalanced: Weight gain, sluggishness, congestion, attachment.
Most people are a blend of two doshas, with one often more dominant.
Balance and Imbalance
When your doshas are balanced, you feel healthy, vibrant, and spiritually aligned.
When out of balance, discomfort, illness, and emotional struggles arise.
Ayurveda teaches that food, herbs, lifestyle, and even how you breathe and think can bring you back into harmony.
